Viñales Valley Day Tour and Discussion

We will go to the Viñales Municipality in the Pinar del Rio Province to visit Valle de Viñales (“Viñales Valley”) to enjoy an underground river boat ride, tour a tobacco farm, and participate in cigar rolling demonstrations. Valle de Viñales is in the Sierra de los Órganos mountain range, just north of the Sana Joseph Smith (2017 August) Tuesday, July 25, 2017 9 Viñales Municipality. Tobacco and other crops are cultivated on the bottom of the valley and the local farmers still use the traditional agricultural production techniques for these crops. The quality of this landscape is enhanced by the vernacular architecture of its farms and villages, where a rich multi-ethnic society survives, illustrating the cultural development of the islands of the Caribbean and of Cuba. In 1999, UNESCO declared the Valle de Viñales a World Heritage Site and it is known as a “living landscape.”
